All basal dental implants are produced from high-grade titanium. It is the metal that is best accepted by the human body. It is the same metal used for artificial hip and knee joints. There are few, if any, allergic reactions to titanium. Most basal implants have a one-piece design implants made for immediate loading. The quality for these different brands of basal implants is on par. Many sizes and designs are standard across brands. Some brands offer improved designs and greater variety of sizes that are preferred by some implant dentists.

Many dentists use a broad range of basal dental implants from different brands to meet the needs of their patients. The main brands of basal implants are produced in Switzerland or Italy:
BasalFix
Monoimplant
Tramonte
Garbaccio
Ihde Dental Biomed
NSI
ROOTT

The Three Types of Bone Anchorage
What's the difference between basal, compressive and tubero-pterygoid implants?
Most basal implant systems fall into three categories, based on the bone they’re designed to grip:
- Basal (cortical) implants bypass the soft, often-resorbed cancellous bone and anchor directly into the hard cortical plate underneath.
- Compressive implants work where healthy cancellous bone is still present. The implant body compresses that bone on insertion for immediate grip.
- Tubero-pterygoid implants anchor into the pterygoid bone behind the sinus, a dense structure that never resorbs. They restore back-tooth function without a sinus lift.
Monoimplant (Switzerland)
🇨🇭 Monoimplant, also Swiss, takes a slightly different approach. Rather than three separate series, its implants share a one-piece bicortical design, meant to anchor at both the entry and exit cortical bone layers in a single fixture. The range includes Smooth, Rough, MOT and Microthread versions, each suited to a different bone density from D1 to D4. This bicortical principle covers much of the same ground as the basal and tubero-pterygoid categories used by other brands. Explore the full Monoimplant range.
BasalFix (Italy)
🇮🇹 BasalFix is an Italian manufacturer with four implant series covering all three anchorage strategies. The Basal line (blue) engages the second cortical plate and is used in zones with no cancellous bone left. The Compressive line (green) compresses healthy cancellous bone, and the Compressive-Fix variant adds cortical tip anchorage for transition zones. The TPI line (yellow) is BasalFix’s tubero-pterygoid implant, anchoring behind the sinus for full molar restoration. Explore the full BasalFix range.
Ihde Dental (Switzerland)
🇨🇭 Ihde Dental is a Swiss manufacturer built around the same three principles. BCS implants provide cortical anchorage and are the system’s choice for tubero-pterygoid placement in severely atrophied jaws. KOS Root implants are compression screws for zones with usable cancellous bone, sometimes picking up extra cortical grip at the tip. TPG Uno implants combine cancellous compression with cortical fixation for splinted bridge work. Explore the full Ihde Dental range.
Frequently Asked Questions on the Brands of Basal Implants
What is the best brand of basal dental implants?
The leading basal implant manufacturers include BasalFix, Ihde Dental, Monoimplant, Trate ROOTT and Tramonte. All are made from high-grade titanium alloy. Many experienced dentists use more than one brand, since each offers slightly different sizes and designs suited to specific bone conditions.
What are tubero-pterygoid implants and why do I need them?
Tubero-pterygoid implants anchor into the pterygoid bone behind your sinus, a structure that doesn’t resorb with age or tooth loss. They restore chewing function in the back of the upper jaw without a sinus lift, even in cases of severe bone loss.
